Today I got out of bed
with a thought. I remembered the song of America that says "cuando Dios
hizo el edén pensó en América" (when God was creating Eden he was thinking
in America) and at that moment I could not get off the couch, in a way I felt
my Sunday was ruined. But after a couple of hours I just had to get out of it and
I started writing this.
We leave in a crazy
world, and not in a good way, and if I would write about that it would turn
into a book and it would not be enough anyway. Therefore, I just want to
dedicate this short article to our America.
I would like to
believe that we were not designed to be the antagonist of this novel, even though
stupidity has been humans motto for a long time from north to south, and vice
versa, in the Americas.
I’ll be taking a few
days off from Social network and try just to relax before coming back to it. But before
I do that this citizen of the world, resident of the Americas, without any
politic or economic influence, wants to pass a message to anyone that is Reading
and listening, and that is NOT to the anti-leaders of our nations, to the politicians
and lawmakers and business men and women that are so successful in their
mediocrity. This is a message for those that follows them, those that have been
tricked in this pile of bull. To open your eyes, to think more than just your
personal benefit and priorities. To see that your needs are very similar to the
person beside you. To use that in a movement that drives moving forward,
putting aside culture, religion, skin color, among other things. If you, by any
chance, are in politics then it does not matter if you are lefty or on the right
side, or if you are part of the group in power or part of the opposition, just go
back to basics and think what is the difference between right and wrong, why
you were elected or why you started into politics, when you were an idealist and wanted to do good for the people.
The anti-leaders from United States of America, Brazil, Peru, Dominican
Republic, Haiti, Venezuela, Mexico, just to mention a few, Where some of them throughout
the years have governed using brute force, oppression and keeping the
education and health level as low as possible with the strategy that an ignorant
and hungry nation can be controlled; without knowing that is a ticking bomb
that will lead to a social, economical, humanitarian chaos. Others, instead, have used “cold war”,
intimidation, among other techniques, as a way to pressure those with “in-developed”
economy, with less resources; obtaining the upper hand in the different agreements, while internally, in their own territory, have used “bubbles” and empty statements,
creating ignorance and internal division as a Machiavellian strategy.
We are going through
an era of terror, pacifist and violent protests; in an era where the
consumption of resources are impacting our home in a negative matter, and
climate change is a reality, leaving behind a big number of victims and
impacting what the anti-leaders treasure the most, the finances… yet that is
not enough to shake them up, but it should be for the rest of us to say “this
is enough”.
I am only one person,
without a clear view of what to do. Sadly, this article is not presenting a
solution, perhaps because there is no single one, but a group of many. What I
have is a vision, one that says that if each and everyone one of us starts
putting “su grano de arena” (grain of sand), and we do it together, then we can
build a beautiful beach, one that goes from NORTH TO SOUTH and VICE VERSA, and
paint that great song into reality before it is too late:
"Cuando
Dios hizo el Edén pensó en América". (When God was creating Eden, he was thinking in America).
